Day in, day out, I speak to ordinary people who are organising to welcome the asylum seekers accommodated in their towns. They befriend, support them, reach out to them as fellow human beings. That's the Britain I know, the one I see around me & we never get told about on TV.

I hear people (friends) talking about how there are so many 'illegals' in my town taking up all the hotel rooms and wandering about the streets. A post I saw this week that said there are 76 migrants being housed in 2 hotels, both on the outskirts. Maybe publish this info to counteract rumours?

*Every* claim has to be assessed in order to establish which claims are legitimate. This should not be a difficult concept to grasp. The majority (2/3 last year and more in previous years) of asylum seekers, it turns out, have a legitimate claim and are granted refugee status.

My Britain too Zoe - driving down Epping high street to visit a friend last Thursday and Sunday was just depressing . Coming back to get on the M25 and stuck in the traffic sitting there watching shouting gangs of predominantly beer swilling men was actually a bit scary.

Every day in every way, the way we talk about asylum seekers is changing for the worse. I'm listening to @lewisgoodall.com, and callers are using words like 'illegal' 'criminal' 'blighting our streets' as routine, and implications that they pose a threat to schools and care homes go unchallenged.

I don't think we can do that in our own homes due to UK asylum laws which demand that asylum seekers stay in the official accommodation sites (I think technically so govt knows where they are). They can't just lodge with other people. But I might be wrong on that.
