It’s literally impossible to imagine selling your soul in the way Labour MPs have done. I genuinely cannot imagine the process that leads you from where you were to where you are. Dead, dry skin-sacks with no internal parts that can be recognised as human any more. Empty.

I have a real morbid fascination with this process and the stories these people tell themselves to smooth that path

Me too. The moral injury. It’s darkly fascinating.

Exactly. I can see no visible benefit or constraint mandating this abject rejection of what @teamlabouruk.bsky.social was elected for, by the British public. It approaches the American Dems in levels of betrayal. If the @libdems.org.uk don't win a majority in 2029 Britain will not be a democracy.

I've seen it in action. No matter how terrible the thing they support is, they tell themselves (and the rest of us)the Tories would be worse and if Labour was more leftwing the Tories would win. In their minds they are always the least worst option.

But that’s precisely what our electoral system produces. I remember that Chris Philp warmly (oh, alright, “almost more than awkwardly tepidly”) thanking me for campaigning against Brexit, which he too opposed. Now, swallowing hard, look at him.

Unfortunately for me having worked with Labour and affiliated unions I don’t need to imagine them selling their souls. I watched it in real time. They are the most morally bankrupt middle management culture fools. Driven by greed and cowardice; not even something relatable like malice.

Also how easy will this be for Reform to pick apart??? It’s right there, on the record!

I can only imagine the levels of cognitive dissonance, where as a Labour MP or party member, you now have to publicly decry the values and principles you once held dear.....🙄 Once, they were inspired or influenced by the writings of Karl Marx. Nowadays? They're more like Groucho.
