I don’t know I think your original point is well taken. People seem to go for celebrities, look at Trump. I would add the Colbert is actually smart and a decent person so both those things are pluses.

Also why he wants nothing to do with political office, he's said this multiple times throughout his career. Stewart too. We ask far too much of the ones we see as heroes.

I’d happily vote for Colbert. Zelenskyy started out as a comedian and now he’s the leader of the free world.

I suspect he would be a better president than any I've seen in my lifetime. But really, I'm thinking he replaces Jimmy Fallon. 😀

Whatever your definition of a celebrity is the President needs to have a lot of those qualities plus being decent. Trump has charisma but wasn’t decent. Biden was decent but had no charisma. Obama was decent and charismatic. Colbert is too.

You didn't mention public service once in your reasons why, and that's why we're in the mess we're in.
