I definitely think a factor is we know if whatever he did comes out, no matter how horrible it is and how shocking the details, it won’t be enough. Because it is never enough. And that cycle wears us down.

I don’t think they’ll be able to get away with hiding the files forever, but I do worry they could get away with it if they’re able to socially engineer “abuse is fine actually” and THEN release the files once they’ve conditioned society to respond with a shrug.
