I just hope they found time in between all the horse-rein sex and the egg-yolks to include some wuthering. I like a nice bit of wuthering, and it wouldn’t be true to the book without it.

I...need it.
I need to reread this book.
yeah I'm trying to figure this out too
"Aggressively provocative" does sum up her whole deal nicely.
Hated Saltburn. Will not be watching this director’s work. Ugh.
I really wish I hadn't Googled "horse-rein sex".
Thanks. You just warned me off.
Yeah, know the feeling. If you really want to hurl your lunch bucket, read this article. 🤮 Emerald Fennell’s Hyper-Sexualized ‘Wuthering Heights’ Gets Polarized Reception at First Test Screening [Updated] — World of Reel www.worldofreel.com/blog/2025/8/...
Sounds like it’s going to be very faithful to the original.
😂
I mean, the original does kind of include actual necrophilia. When I was 11 or so I stumbled upon an illustrated edition featuring an engraving by Fritz Eichenberg of Heathcliff digging up Cathy's grave & found it deeply disturbing. I looked at it again just now & still do.
Hope the Bronte estate prepares itself for all of that, as a rap musical. No doubt Miranda already has the original cast of Hamilton workshopping "In the Wuthering Heights."
I can't recall any suggestive-egg-yolk scenes since Juzo Itami's "Tampopo." Did it become a thing in the time since? I must be out of touch.
😳
I have never been more interested in reading a "classic" than I am right now
I'm not gonna ask.
"From the Writer director of Promising Young Woman and Saltburn comes horse-rein sex, suggestive egg yolks and necrophile nuns" is a way to sell this to those that are concerned that it would be just another stuffy adaptation.
"Warning: Contains Horse-Rein Sex, Suggestive Egg Yolks and Necrophile Nuns." We've all seen those labels on album covers.
Was this in the original?
No.
Jesus.
I don't think I'll be watching this; I read the book, and once was enough. Heathcliff is a monster, who destroys and degrades everything around him- he cannot be rehabilitated or reformed, and Kathy is a fool to try.
Oh Kathy was nearly equally awful. I felt bad for the Linton siblings.
Yes, me too. I'm never reading it again. I know people bang on about his background; that's a reason, not an excuse, for his behaviour.
“Necrophile Nuns” is the name of my all-woman Ghost cover band.
Aren't Nuns "The brides of Christ", so definitionaly necrophiliacs?
Rereading it right now and haven’t come across any of this.🤔
Lol
