How do these even get approved to be built in the first place. Like seriously how are these cities just letting them build such wasteful power plants and data centers?

I couldn't say exactly what down, but from my limited experience with city governments, I'm sure the company promised JOBS and ECONOMIC GROWTH (and they probably promised to make "political donations" to the city council members). City probably also offered insane tax write-offs too.
