Pardon me please, by the way, if I misunderstood the intent of your original comment. It seemed to be a dunk on what you considered undue gatekeeping, but now I realize it could just as well have been meant as a lament about others' undue gatekeeping.

To be honest, it's a bit of both. I think gatekeeping in all forms is more damaging than what it's trying to keep out. As musician and photographer, I've been on the receiving end of it far too many times to tolerate someone placing arbitrary rules on what may or may not be "allowed into the arts".
