I cannot imagine how hard it is for all my colleagues right now. And admins seem happy to embrace the craziness.

I don't get it!! It was only this past Spring semester that I noticed a huge influx of AI generated assignment submissions. And when I talked to our dean about it, he seemed pretty indifferent. So in my department, I'm on my own in this battle.
I've read that English profs' grading time has doubled, and our load was not light before! And if the institution doesn't fight it, what can faculty do? Ugh!!
Yes! When an assignment is submitted that looks AI generated, I have to spend extra time gathering evidence by over-scrutinizing the assignment. I have to be 99% certain before I will accuse a student of plagiarism and this makes me fret over assignments far more than I should have to! UGH!
I remember when simpler forms of plagiarism took hours to document, but the incidence was so much less frequent. You have my sympathy! I'd want to ask the admins about how AI fits with the school's mission--pretty sure cheating is not part of it!
Yep! All the documentation, explanations, and screenshots!
