Nah, the game theory of execution just doesn't work ("I'm not going to be sad if I'm dead"). But physical punishment? Sign me in. (In general, suffering-based punishment works wonders against premeditated, planned behaviors. You get up to work every day, right?)

Execution is best left for coups, tyrants, and leaders of hate movements. Because there the position within the network matters way more than the specific crime. At that point it's not about deterrence or rehabilitation, it's about disarticulation.
