The static code analysis for VSCode on my PC stopped working offline around the same time Microsoft began to shove Copilot into it. I heavily suspect it's because any form of code analysis now needs to be connected with Copilot to function.

I have used LibreOffice for two years now and can confirm, just as easy to use as Microsoft’s and SO much less bloat. I haven’t had any problems opening and editing files I originally made in office either. It’s great and was seamless for me to switch, really can’t recommend this enough to everyone.

I have disrupted my week to yeet windows off my PC and move to Linux. I'm a bit overwhelmed by the change but at least I no longer want to throw my computer off a tall building.
Did this 6 months ago and I haven’t regretted it once. It has a learning curve but especially with something like Linux Mint it really wasn’t so bad! I jumped in blind and was able to figure things out with clicking around and searching. And now I know way more about Linux and computers 10/10.
Yea, endure some discomfort when the learning curve is steep, but learn a lifelong new skill and never look back.

Thanks! My partner is a computer technician so he landed on Kubuntu after testing Bazzite first. It was nearly impossible to run my drawing tablet/CSP on it, hence the switch. It's been so challenging to get everything set up, but I am SO DONE with Microsoft.
I cant say what works best as far as tablet drivers go, but Krita is basically first party by the KDE team itself.

It's a text editor, not a rich text editor (WordPad) or word processor (Word). It edits characters directly, styles require tags. A Word document is like HTML (roughly speaking), it's doing the rendering for you.

I like Louis Rossman's term for this - "rapist mentality". They refuse to take no for an answer. Whenever possible they will force their bullshit onto you without asking, and if they can't do that, they'll "maybe later" you in hopes of eventually wearing you down and coercing you into saying yes.
They did this with Outlook. First they'd nag you to try Copilot, then they'd randomly just turn it on every few days and you'd have to manually disable it, then they just turned it on and took away any real way to disable it, now I can't type without a Copilot button appearing ON TOP of my cursor.
They've added it to Excel on my work computer. That stupid button is actively in my way more often than not. I was able to get rid of the button, but I can't disable Copilot altogether because my org is fully leaning into AI and won't let me.
Winaero tweaker and a few other tools can disable it, until a random windows update, then you have to do it AGAIN.
Someone throws their hands in the air like a panicky muppet saying it will bork your whole system whenever I say this, but you can also bar the system from updating itself AT ALL. I did it to my windows 10 after this whole AI biz popped off and I have *none* of the problems others have.
One issue with that is that you won’t get security updates. That doesn’t mean you’ll automatically get malware, but it does mean you have to be extra careful. That’s probably why they’re throwing a fit; they trust the AI-ridden bloatware more than they trust the end user to browse responsibly.
I couldn’t care less about “security updates” when all they ever do is use that as an excuse to roll out stupid ass features. I haven’t updated my gaming rig since april because i removed windows update entirely. They kept destroying my install, and just recently their updates are killing users SSDs

I appreciate this effort, but I have a big problem with this: & ([ScriptBlock]::Create((Invoke-RestMethod ))) This downloads the script directly from a URL not controlled by the user and executes it sight-unseen. Convenient, but bad security hygiene—we shouldn't promote this behavior.
I would *hope* that PowerShell blocks this by default for at least unsigned scripts, but I definitely do know the kind of user who'll set their execution policy to bypass without knowing any of the implications, just because some rando told them to. (And yes, I feel the same about curl | bash)

Just, generally speaking, I can't recall a time in my 6 decades when something was marketed as desperately as AI.
3D in movies and television. Every decade or so they'll try to push it with new tech and people will go "Eh, it's ok I guess" and forget about it. 3DTV makes things hard to bootleg, and movie theaters look for any gimmick to get butts in seats. So they keep trying.
But it gives people headaches, is overly relied on in whenever movie or TV show tries it, and usually requires uncomfortable glasses in addition to whatever actual glasses you're wearing. People don't want it, but every couple years they try again.
Difference is they're not forcibly loading 3D DIRECTLY onto our phones and computers as a new function that's ALWAYS turned on for software we're already using for years, if not decades.

I love my 3DS. The 3D technology was so cool! I recorded so many 240p 3D videos! The 3D was also very easy to disable for people who just wanted to play games.
