Nothing to add other then you’ll do great. I cried at the end of my first 5k. I did it by myself.
Give yourself grace, thats not long to train 2-3 days of strength training mixed in, intervals are key, every 3rd run w/hills, stairs a couple of times a week to inc your vo2/anaerobic threshold If you can only do 1-2 mins at 10min mile its too fast Start at a slower pace and inc speed over run
Seen down below you looked at Couch to 5K, I can highly recommend that one! I started with that two years ago, am now training for a half marathon. Best advice I learned for success is to run *slower* than you think you need to in the running portions, it helps finish each workout. Good luck!
thank you!!!

Thanks for thinking of me! A 5K is an excellent distance for a race. Do you have any experience or practice in running at all?
only a little i can run like 1min-2mins at a 10 min mile pace but im now trying to settle into a race pace as i start training.
Sorry for throwing a book at you 😩
oh nono im def in a data collecting phase so all of it is good information!
Some people prefer to run in a pair of actual running shoes which is good if you intend to make a habit and don’t have any already. Lastly, I def recommend downloading the Adidas Running App. They actually have some training programs (for free!) that build you up to running a 5K.
From there, they do interval training to build up endurance and whatnot (because sometimes in your first race, you may walk/jog at points). Since you have until November, I would say don’t pressure yourself to hit “race pace” until like next month.
Got you, got you. That’s a good start! The run club I’m a part of does a training plan for first time 5Kers that kinda helps w practice. They start by having folks run a mile non-stop as best they can to have a starting point. It doesn’t matter if you have to walk during so long as you finish a mile
oh yeah a training plan from a real human would be dope. I was looking at the runna training program and i also looked at the couch to 5k program. the runna program has you doing walk + runs for 12 weeks. if i have to walk in this race bc i didnt train well enough im gonna be pissed.
Also don’t feel bad if you DO walk! Lol not everybody does but anything can happen on a training day. Sometimes you walk just to get your momentum back. Not saying that will happen to you, but even it does, it’s not a bad thing!
no i know its not a bad thing. im being prideful and at some point will have to let that go but... rn my goal is RUNNING a 5k lol
And you will! Lol I have no doubt. Our run club is in Houston but we have one in Dallas too!
oh nice. god bless yall for running in that heat OMG
💀💀💀💀 man listen. I’m preparing for a race of my own though so it’s a necessary evil
If you’re interested, I’ll try to see what I can gather from the plan we use and get that to you. I think it’s a 2 month plan but Adidas is just as good!
defnitely interested in the plan yall use. where is yall run club based?
copy!!! ill look into the adidas app now!! Ive been running in some hokas i got a year ago theyre holding up pretty well! do you reccomend any other like strength training or mobility training as im preparing? im thinking ill do some yoga on off days but wondering if anything else is helpful
I got converted to Hokas and I definitely love them lol. You want to strength train 2 times a week if you can. A good cheat code, to me, is the Nike Training App. They’re free too, and they actually have some mobility/running specific workouts.
My daughter uses www.nonetorun.com and has made great progress.
