Alright fine, I’ll finally watch The Death of Stalin since everyone is suddenly talking about it so much and in such glowing terms. Dunno why tho…movie is 8 years old. Must be cuz it’s on Tubi and since it’s free to watch or something 🤷♂️

I watched it on an aeroplane once and didn't like it, but it might just be that it's precisely the opposite of a good aeroplane movie
I put it on once when it first came out and remember either falling asleep or changing to something else cuz it wasn’t doing much for me. It does have a great cast tho so I imagine it was a failing on my part at the time. 😅
I like it, because of the cast. I would not call it "great," though. It's fine. Fine is a good bar to clear for any film.
Sounds like western propaganda
I have no doubt
I remember seeing it in theaters and enjoying it a lot. It works better comedically than politically. It's snappy and well written, but feels like a strange artifact of liberalism in the rearview mirror. Plus I can't get enough of Steve Buscemi, so that helps explain my rosy view of the film.
I love Buscemi and most of the people in the movie, but I dunno...its tenor isn't one that resonates with me at all apparently 🤷♂️ The guy trying to re-record the symphony performance was the funniest part to me.
Fair enough. It's going for a stylized counterfeit Cohen brothers thing but without a lot of the heart the Cohens inject into their comedy. I can easily see how that wouldn't grab someone.
I remember it being pretty funny/clever but I can’t avoid feeling strong revulsion about media that makes communist countries the butt of a joke. I’m not even a ML or have much investment in defending AES but it still grosses me out
Yeah, it didn’t do it for me 🤷♂️ Lotta people seem to love it, but I wasn’t even mildly impressed.
