To get back at women, he pushed the thesis of a female PhD student with a “politically incorrect” take on women. That women was Emily Oster and her take was that girls weren’t being aborted for being women in Asia, it was just that women in Asia somehow started being vulnerable to a certain disease

Oster published her thesis and got into Brown and was one of the most famous economists in the world. The only issue? The entire thesis was completely wrong and she published it knowing it was wrong. After she got hired, she published a follow up paper of “lol jk” and got praised for that too.

Incredible how the fact that she basically faked her thesis so Robert Barro could attack women more and no one cared. It was also a thesis denying the brutal sexism in Asia in that time period. Just a fucking joke academic.
