I am trying to imagine the linguistic journey that led to this sign, and I am completely baffled.

Exterior shot of The dining area of an establishment. The sign above, in great white neon, announces location as Chi Tea: Hot Chicken & Burgers. Three figures can be seen in line at the cash register, but the establishment is otherwise empty.

Just a goofy pun: Chai tea - that linguistic thing where the name of a thing is the same word for that thing but in a different language (dunno if there's a name for it, but it's a thing), pronounced (in US English) to rhyme with sky + Chi - nickname for Chicago, also rhymes with sky

Fun fact: I was unable to see that there was text on that part of the signage until I opened the photo real big. Based on the logo, I'm guessing they started with the concept of a boba shop and added stuff they also serve. Can't tell for sure, as the"Story" page is trash. officialchitea.com/story

Logo for Chi Tea company. A thick black outline shaped like the typical plastic cup used for boba tea with the dome lid. The shape is bisected vertically, with the letters of Chi Tea going down the space where the other half of the cup would be. Inside the cup is the shape of a skyscraper, colored pale blue and filled with boba circles. It's clever.

It's on their sign. At some point, they branched out from selling teas to selling....hot wings?
