One would hope. Still, there are some places in the Alpha Quadrant (Badlands, i'm looking right AT YOU), you don't go into without packing a phaser or two.

Like, we're a lovely Federation member planet - your last chance for deuterium and supplies for 1000 LY. And off over there in the Badlands is some damn crack house, dealing in Ketrecel White and Venus Love by a fat Ferengi named "Big Pimpin'". I swear, this quadrant's gone downhill since 2375.
