Starting to suspect some of the "we're delaying because of Silksong" announcements are now merely (very smart imo) marketing plays to get free attention and PR.

Reminds me back in the day where they delayed a bunch of stuff because of Modern Warfare 2 www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTyN...
it does ride the cutesy we're-gamers-too-don't-forget-we-game-this-totally-isn't-a-barely-held-together-project-driving-massive-overtime vibe
Silksong did have, what, 4.8 million wishlists right, really not either or. Thats a scary audience to both avoid in the moment and to capture for your game later. A little of column A, a bit of column B
Our game's coming out later today (as planned). Dodging that Silksong!
I just love that Silksong became the indie version of GTA6. A game to be feared by all others.
It made sense to delay Demonschool...delay it by a month and a half for purely competition reasons...maybe less sense 😅
I was expecting more people to do this, but because it's a real thing that happens and there's no guarantee moving will help, I figured it might not be worth it (ex: Promise Mascot Agency delayed a week to avoid Switch 2 news, fell right into the path of Blue Prince).
And there's a tipping point where not everybody can blame Silksong/move all at once and still get a PR bump.
wonder how much a delay costs a dev and if that hit is worth a few extra headlines
Was just thinking this when I was like oh hey, I didn’t realize Necrosoft had a new game coming out, looks sick! (To be clear I don’t think the move was calculated as such but it certainly worked that way)
I'm mostly just joking around, but that one seemed like a publisher feeling pretty stressed.
