There's a new bullshit article from the Guardian doing the rounds with the basic theme of "Do LLMs have feelings?" and the question in-and-of-itself isn't even worth asking as a setup hypothetical in a thesis to then disprove. They physically cannot.

Also, I love ants; they're awesome, but they are still really stupid, and incapable of learning or adapting to anything outside their genetic programming. Their brain is a windows screensaver and some background tasks; which makes their mini societies all the more impressive that they work. Mostly.

i mean it's certainly impressive what they can do, being miniscule, brainless things is definitely not safe, but they manage and i guess in some sense it's inspiring knowing these tiny, unthinking creatures can build entire societies

Indeed. They are basically self-assembling drone swarms just going through a process list... And it works. Bees even more so. They have language, and can communicate distance, direction, and volume without the need for chemical trail markers. That's impressive shit for a pin-head sized brain!
