That's a fair question, and the answer is that by historical standards there really is no left in America that could run a candidate. Left politics has always been based in unions, and unions are weaker in America than in any comparable country. We're more like Honduras than Canada.

And yes, the guy who did concentration camps is by far the most progressive and successful president in American history, which says a lot about America. The center of a huge empire like the U.S. will always have essentially reactionary politics.
