Democrats are still wringing their hands over 2024 and opining about how the party must change. Mamdani has given them a blueprint. My prediction is that it will be ignored and we’ll keep losing. 🫤

I hope that you’re wrong but I’m afraid that you’re not. It’s time for candidates to bypass party politics. Build grassroots support like this guy did.

Mamdani is not a blueprint, he is a human being and the qualities that make him the electrifying candidate he is are his alone. We don't need cookie cutter we need unique individuals with their own exciting takes.

Point taken. I meant more his “style.” The grassroots campaigning.Getting in front of people & really listening. Using social media to create excitement & reach young voters. Presenting actual solutions. As opposed to raking in corp. $ and regurgitating talking points that are no longer relevant.

I understand. I'm sure those things helped him win TBH they weren't a consideration for me until now. Once I looked into him and found him to be a citykid who knows what's up I had no problem ranking him. The youth vote is no surprise to me and I credit that to him not his style.

By “exciting takes” you mean actual meaningful policy for working class people with an intention to deliver it, correct? It needs to not be about simply winning, but improving lives.

No, I don't mean that. I'm not talking about winning or losing, nor about policy. You sound a bit defensive about my comment so I'm sorry if I rubbed you the wrong way.

LOL! I agree re: Bernie. And a few others, like Elizabeth Warren. The old guard just doesn’t understand that the rules have changed. Our opponents flagrantly ignore the law and Dems are still tsk-tsking at them like they’re unruly toddlers who will eventually learn their lesson. They won’t.

I have to wonder if no maga has ever read a historical fiction. What we are witnessing is play by play fascism. Same story over and over. I know i am preaching to the choir, but it so frustrating when people i thought were intelligent and well read are cult followers!!

It doesn’t matter how well-read and intelligent they may be: Racism is ingrained and seems to inform everything they do. Sure, they may want better pay, better healthcare and democracy. But they want cruelty to immigrants more, apparently.

I don't see anyone wringing their hands over Biden dropping out too late to run a primary. It was a mess, but we didn't have a say in it.

Yup. Plenty of Monday Morning Quarterbacking to be had with that situation. But ultimately, there SHOULD have been a primary. Biden SHOULD have stepped aside far sooner, Nancy Pelosi SHOULD have had the talk with him a year earlier. Lots of mistakes; very little ownership.

or, as Mother Teresa used to say, "Ek, ek, ek," which (I was told) is Hindi for "One by one by one." also: "You must act as if it all depends on you. Then leave the rest to God." I'm not religious, but she knew things about getting shit done.
