What’s an allotment?
What’s an allotment?
Question answered. 🤣
What is it, though? Iare you guys still on some sort of post ww2 rationing?
We might have them, but we do tend to use different names for the same things.
Just a very small parcel of land leased by the council for you to cultivate your own fruit and vegetables.
Like a community garden? Those exist in some cities.
There was one adjacent to the last neighborhood I lived in Brooklyn. An abandoned(?) lot was either given or taken over by the community for gardening.
I think a small membership fee went toward upkeep. We left nyc years ago, so my memory is hazy, but I believe that was the answer to my inquiry.
Community garden might be the closest analogue? But we have those too.
I don’t know for certain, but I think they’re mostly reserved for urban areas, where green space is limited. When my wife and I go on our semi-nightly walks, I often wish homes and businesses planted more fruit trees, and when I see an empty lot I think,”that would make a great community garden.”
I would love to have something like that, though. Both my wife and I like to garden, but don’t have the space.
I’d, also, like to have the NHS.
We won't have it much longer, sadly. We'd rather do a racism.
