Quite. Reality of much research suggests there's much more money to be made in the new energy sector (new equals sustainable environmentally friendly) than burning stuff. But the money behind delusional deniers is entrenched in the old filthy sort and they refuse to divest until they fully cash in.

Dif. being fossil fuel is a finite resource controlled by a few hands whereas renewable energy is by definition not finite and potentially the benefits could be much more locally distributed. Meanwhile big fuel is trying to work out how to muscle in on the action and counter its democratising effect

I'd just returned to add something related to that. The other great thing about renewable, particularly solar panels on houses with local battery storage is the removal of large capital control. It's affordable by a much wider base of people. Taking away one means of control from the establishment

And by "establishment" I mean the shadowy bastards that want to keep the majority servile and a cheap source of labour for where they can't replace us with robots, machines and AI. They also hate real competition as it forces fair pricing.
