Maybe. Hopefully, making private landlording less profitable will bring about a reduction in their numbers. Beinging back rent controls would be good. And ensuring places are fit to be lived in.

But simply taxing landlords will just increase rents for those already struggling. There shouldn't be a 'rental market'. If it was down to me they would be brought into council ownership where the rents would pay to generate more housing stock.

Ideally, the Government should frame any NI change in such a way, to prevent this being added to rents.
