I have never understand how vehemently anti-self diagnosis so many people are like do you seriously think it’s impossible for mentally ill and disabled people to understand their mental illnesses or disabilities without a third party telling them. like we’re too crazy and stupid to know on our own
I’m about 99% sure I have adhd I’m not 100% sure because I haven’t been officially diagnosed, but that doesn’t mean it’s up in the air if I have it. I’m still 99% sure.

It’s even funnier because according to SOME studies the over 70% of self diagnoses are correct. Obviously studies vary but it’s not like it’s a fuckin shot in the dark
and also. getting a diagnosis is not free. especially for autism and adhd. the mental health system is still a medical system, and even if they have insurance, it can be thousands of dollars to get the CHANCE at a diagnosis. people who are anti-self diagnosing don’t understand that.
