Nixon was never as bad as Trump. I was 20 yo, when Nixon quit.
Trump And Nixon are closer than history will tell us. The big difference is Congress held up during the Nixon years.
The people that wanted Nixon to get away with it are just like the ones in trump’s regime today. I think they are the ones that started Fox News. I still think Trump is light years worse than Nixon though.

I wouldn’t have used that word but the part about him calling Joe Biden when his wife and daughter died in that car accident made me think it was accurate. Trump would never do something like that.
Problem is, if we'd recognized Nixon for what he was and vilified and punished him appropriately back then, we probably wouldn't have Trump now. Is the answer to Trump really finding redeeming things in the SECOND worst threat to democratic principles in our history? How does lowering the bar help?
Probably not. And I agree. I just think it’s important for people to realize we’re in a five alarm fire. There has never been a disaster like trump and I know there are people out there who don’t realize what’s going on. Plus I like posting about history and social science. 💙
Reasonable people thought the lesson of Nixon was "Don't vote for people who would use their office to commit crimes." Republicans thought it was "Don't get caught, destroy the evidence, and if that doesn't work, find a way to justify it anyway."
