I just called SSA to test this. Following an English greeting, it says *in Spanish*, something like for Spanish press number x. I'm almost certain that it's actually hearing another language that scares the shit out of these MAGAt types.

Usually they have on any line to press a different number for another language but some places do have the press one for English because they'll have Spanish, Somali, etc. like MN Hennepin County EZ Info line.

It's the government assistance/benefits/insurance line and it is horrible imo you wait hours to speak to some random about your case and they can shut the phone lines off even if you only want to talk about your state insurance to report updates to income/address/etc.

That's a very specific county line though, not federal.

Yeah I just don't call any federal numbers like that, only SSA if I can't stop at my local office so I have no clue if any fed lines have what I experience on my county line. I doubt it but who knows.
