They have been conditioned to wait until given permission. Had a family member who did it with his dog. He'd place treats in a circle and make the dog wait for permission to take each piece. That poor dog would stay perfectly still for 15 minutes waiting. They heard 'OK!' I guarantee it.
No movement, not even tail wagging or licking their lips? That just seems unnatural.
