Bernie Sanders endorses Graham Platner. A striking, early intervention by one of the most popular political figures in the country. #MEpolitics

Wondering if Janet Mills has met with Graham Platner as she is apparently still considering a run for Susan Collins’ seat. Or maybe Angus will retire he sort of seems to already be retired (and he should retire) and then Janet can take his place.

Bernie’s endorsement doesn’t seem to have helped Troy Jackson. Why would it help Platner?

He handily won the 2016 caucus and came a close second in the 2020 primary which would suggest he’s more popular among Maine Democrats than is typical nationally.

Caucuses are wildly unrepresentative and undemocratic. And in the 2020 ME Dem primary, Bernie got less than one in three votes.

Still better than he did nationally. If I remember correctly, he’s one of the few politicians with a net positive favorability nationally.

Platner might do great in the primary but I’d ask you to think about what sort of candidates win statewide Democratic primaries and general elections in Maine. Are they full throated progressives?

I’d also note that Bernie’s endorsement of Troy Jackson doesn’t appear to have helped Jackson’s campaign. Endorsements typically have little impact, so that’s not surprising.

Anti-liberals prefer bullies. Anti-liberal right-wing nominate GOP TFG Trump R-FL. Hard line DSA such as in Maine also prefer bullies. GOP Trump is a closeted LGBTQ gay bottom since late 1960s, doing tough guy schtick implementing bitter gay pettiness tropes, eg racistly revoking Harris D-CA

US Secret Service protection despite just how many death threats she & Obama have gotten, from apparent US racists. Trump is revoking her security to try to block her book tour entirely to cost her millions of $, & possibly green light anyone standing back & standing by, to harm or assassinate her.

I avoid endorsing specific candidates, but in general I think people should vote for whomever they think has the best ideas rather than trying to second-guess who will win.

You can feel that way and not vote for someone or who they back. In 2020, he got less than one in three votes in the Democratic primary in Maine. (Because it was a crowded field, that was good enough to come in second.) He’s endorsed Troy Jackson for gov and Troy is currently third in the polls.

nmclarke92.bsky.social @nmclarke92.bsky.social

The race for governor is also a very crowded field. All I'm saying is his support is something that will make people pay attention. I think it's a strong way to start a campaign especially given the low approval rating of Collins.

Which prejudiced pro JimCrow/KKK violently prejudiced “no n****rs, nor c***s voting” account did you reply to, which bad faith blocks me forever on #BlueSky @bsky.app? Nationwide it is obviously almost always GOP JimCrow/KKK, but given our Maine context, I am assuming it’s violently prejudiced DSA

#BlueSky @bsky.app overly-broad tyranny blocking even reading posts on politics, is bad faith designed into this platform. Given the hard anti-liberal right-wing JimCrow/KKK violently prejudiced “Reagan DSA” Maine, I am curious which account blocked me from reading the start of thread. Anyone say?

Hard anti-liberal right-wing DSA so JimCrow/KKK violently prejudiced “Reagan DSA” comfortably vote Collins R-ME & King I-ME in big numbers. Maine also has similarly hard anti-liberal left-wing JimCrow/KKK violently prejudiced “Bolshevik DSA”, but supposedly in much smaller numbers than “Reagan DSA”

One notable wrinkle of a potential Platner vs Collins match-up: Susan smeared Gideon as Schumer's tool (often in antisemitic ways) in part to other her. But Graham says he won't back Schumer and painting him as Sanders puppet doesn't have the same resonance. So how does she slime him? #MEpolitics

Knowing the levels of sheer disdain for HRC, I do believe Bernie would have won CD2 in 2016. I've met Bernie bros who didn't vote in the general that year. But no, it's not hard data. We will see how it goes tomorrow. I wish it were in Bangor instead of Portland!

Listening to the 2018 Scene on Radio pod series “Men.” While their reporting & analysis of the unique US version of patriarchy & racism, i.e. we never ended the Civil War, anti-feminism, homophobia, etc., is spot on, it seems almost quaint seven years later. podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/s...
