chump only cons those who never feel the need to get a passport.
chump only cons those who never feel the need to get a passport.
To be fair, passports are expensive and require quite a bit if paperwork to obtain...since Travel outside of the US is also expensive there a great many people who will never be ABLE to obtain a passport. I Get your point, but it's something to consider.
Good lord! We live below the poverty line, but both my son and I have passports. Because...you never know when you might need it. One day, when Trump is dead and trust restored, we may need them to visit America. I'm guessing you don't need them to visit Canada? Or Mexico?
Oh, I have a passport and until recently they have not been required to visit Mexico, I'm unsure regarding Canada, but I did not obtain a passport until I was in my 40s...
I have one but if i leave im never coming back. Good riddance trump is the ugly of america brought into light. As much as we like to think we are a civilized proper nation it is all an overpriced, propagandized, facade
I worry we are witnessing the decline and fall of American hegemony. As a Canadian, I'm very afraid of sharing the world's longest undefended border with Russia #2. Hold onto that passport. When Trump starts up a concentration camp company, come north. You can hide in my basement.
Thank you for stepping up to take immigrants that are escaping tyranny!
Thank you and I’ll hold you to these words! Can I have some made-in-Canada maple syrups in that cozy basement of yours? I’ll do cleaning in exchange :).
Maybe im being a bit too optimistic and i for sure felt the same way ive actually been prepping to leave for a while now but with trump having died this weekend i feel like things will get better sooner rather than later.
Ummm, I fear Vance will be more powerful than trump!
If only...
And reality is there are many who’ve never been more than 100 miles (or less) from home
True, but the US is giant, I recently went on a 4000 mi road trip and never left the country
There’s 43,000 square miles in my province. It’s about 4,200 to the other coast of Canada. In both countries we have people who never leave their hometown, ever.
While I'm sure there are some people who never leave their hometown, I have trouble believing it's the majority, or even a significant percentage (say, greater than 15%). Canadians have the highest rates of postsecondary education in the world (60+%). A lot of those people leave their hometown.
It’s not the majority, but the loud minority know how to manipulate the ones with such lack of experience with the world at large….
In America, I definitely see that (esp. in MAGA); over half their population is functionally illiterate and not mobile. To be fair, Canada isn't a lot better statistically, but the majority of low-literacy citizens are immigrants (23% of pop.) & their kids usually develop better language skills.
In today's mobile society, that is depressing. Everyone should: A) try a post-secondary education and/or B) travel internationally for a year at least. I understand poverty (trust me) but that's a reason for ignorance, not an excuse to avoid opening one's mind.
Travel and education are so important.
