A conversation that I had with my game group last night: What do you think would be the hardest franchise to express as a TTRPG? (And as a follow up challenge, what would you do to make that TTRPG anyway?)

Hmm. Maybe MechWarrior or Gundam. I feel like it is very hard to balance a game between mech combat and pilot combat without neglecting one or the other. Also, there are massive risks if your mech is ever downed.
This exists already. I pilotted a Marauder until I managed to capture a MADCAT. And I pumped my character full of so many cyber enhancements, that he wasn't that afraid of his mech being downed. ttrpgfactory.com/2022/04/13/b...
I think you can make anything a TTRPG if you try hard enough. Earthworm Jim? Clone High? ... I got it! Ren and Stimpy.
Toon?
Yeah. Like Loony Toons, but way darker and less predictable. Loony Toons would be another tricky one... But there are enough similar gags for there to be rules, and I bet it would be fun as heck. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Ren...
So Toon. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toon_(r...
First. Holy crap that sounds like a load of fun! Second. I think that would cover it, but I'm a little hesitant to say for sure. The rule about breaking the rules is a pretty wide blanket. Third. I want to try this game soon! Thanks for letting me know about it!
Gossip girl. I'm not even joking. But you take it and twist it into a sinister entity "gossip girl" who torments the party and they have to suss out and defeat. However, it's mostly a puzzle and logic campaign. Little to no murder.
