Pop. It’s called pop.
Pop. It’s called pop.
Soda.
Chill guys, it's called coke. I even see a Dr Pepper coke
North: Pop South: Soda Deep South: Coke ex: The waiter asks, “What kinda coke y’all want?”
And it’s pronounced “paap”, like with the long “a” sound so nasal that it’s coming from behind your eye. “Hey gais let’s go to Meijer and get some paap”.
Scotland: Juice Glasgow: Ginger
True. Totally threw Midwest me when I lived in Dallas. Waitstaff: “What do you want to drink?” Customer: “Coke.” Waitstaff: “What kind?” Customer: “Dr. Pepper.” Me: ?!?!?!
There was a BK in Birmingham with three tea urns: Unsweet Sweet Southern I was afraid to find out how much sugar was in that last urn
Shit I can’t hardly do the sweet tea at Chick Fil A. The southern would probably push me all the way into Type 2
My blood sugar is rising just THINKING about the Southern one!
I was born/raised in NY. It's soda. North Midwest might be pop.
It's not your dad, it's soda.
I got to hear this litigated repeatedly when I went to school in Ohio. I finally had to just explain to everyone they're all wrong, everything in that fridge is a coke. What if you want a Sprite? It's a coke What about root beer? Also a coke What if you want a Pepsi? You do NOT want a Pepsi.
I'm from WV, where it's pop or soda pop. Here in New Orleans, they're all "cold drinks", and the first time I went to a bar and asked for a soda, I got club soda.
to be fair, context matters - you're in a bar where a "whiskey and soda" and a "Jack and Coke" are very different drinks. Bar settings I generally play it safe and give a brand name.
I get it from my students when we play a game that includes naming your favorite drink. Someone always complains, 'We're not 21 professor! We can't drink!"
Yes lol! And it’s pronounced “CoCola” xD
