Again:Journalists are not stenographers. We are to get information, report and verify the facts, and then report the reality not the talking point. What Trump is doing in DC and threatening in cities is NOT a crime crack down because he says it is. Don’t regurgitate. Report the truth not propaganda.
Most importantly if a claim is being made, dig into it. He claims there is rampant violence/murder. Go to the city blocks where that data exists and report back if soldiers are in those communities and people are safer. Because undercutting his lies requires evidence they are false & damaging.

I wish this was consistently the case. Unfortunately, even when there is good reporting by individual journalists, the headlines/subheadings echo the talking points. The editors also signal the importance by where the article is placed. The net effect is to normalize our slide into fascism.

This is all true but Democrats could help the process by 1) working the refs like Republicans do, 2) cultivate their own media, and 3) giving the media big provocative sound bites to counter Republican talking points.

I'm pretty amazed, while watching mainstream media, how many jounalists seem to forgotten EVERYTHING they've learned over their career on how to be a journalist. Most of them have just become bobble-heads, nodding along with whatever someone says to them...questioning nothing.
