M4A would be killed by the courts anyway. No court would make private insurance illegal & I don’t see how it would be constitutional to force every American on to a government healthcare plan.

Universal healthcare does not preclude private options. But everyone would have healthcare and then if you want to buy more you can. Just as free public college doesn’t mean private schools are illegal. We choose to live like this. people vilify the voices for a compassionate society.

Bernie’s plan abolishes private health insurance. It mandates everyone go on the government plan & taxes go up accordingly to pay for it. CBO estimates $32 trillion over 10 years. That would be more than our entire current budget.

It also has the Secretary of Health & Human Services deciding what gets covered which would be Robert Kennedy Jr if it were in effect now. I don’t want a Republican DHHS Secretary deciding what coverage I can get.

True. Even Japan's single payer plan is managed by private insurance. The government pays the insurance companies, and the insurance companies pay the hospital. Same with Germany, and I believe Sweden and Norway. Even Canada and Britain have private insurance for supplemental care.

Germany has a hybrid system—public & private. People who don’t have private insurance qualify for public health coverage. The public healthcare there’s a much longer wait time for appointments. I have friends in Germany who’ve been on both systems. The private plan is much preferable.
