You still read the NYT? A news outlet that couldn't stop hammering on about Biden's age and mental status yet barely dares to do so in Trump's case? Wow.
Describing someone fighting in the War in Afghanistan and serving on Bush's National Security Council as "defending America" is *also* right-wing propaganda, just from another decade. Both of these people have blood on their hands.
Outrageous, but totally in keeping with where we are. This is a very sick country. Will we be able to "fix" what's left come 2029, or even 2027?
One of the refrains of Pres. Trump’s 2024 campaign was about “saving” America. I’m not sure what we needed saving from then, but we will surely need saving in the next few years.
No, but if we're very lucky and work extremely hard, we can get started.
This gives new meaning to the phrase " West point, where the history of the country is made."
All about loyalty to Trump… Which will ruin the USA.. or maybe call it Trumpistan.
America...felled by a 2 bit outer borough conman mook, propped up by tv. Fitting, however pathetic.
Laura Loomer is proud to serve an audience of one. Why are Republicans acquiescing to the Dear Leader when they know Loomer is lurking around Trump? 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
They're stretching the definition of the "truth" to which they are committed — a commitment I think they really do *want* to be sincere — such that it has less and less meaning. There are different kinds of intelligence, and it seems they have too much of the wrong kind.
Argh! Another NYT piece soft-pedaling the repercussions of censorship by this administration.
@sulliview.bsky.social here’s an example of an awful headline!
Especially since there's only one vision under Trump, which is Trump's. Everything else is on its way out if not already gone.
Appreciated
@nytpitchbot.bsky.social It must be hard for you watching reality overtaking…
There is no need to explain this, this administration wants to rule over everything regardless if they don’t know a damn thing about what the job entails. This is all set by Heritage and the administration because of their stupidity and the enabling of the GOP …. Be ready, the nation is threatened
All laid out… Premeditated criminal intent against democracy #MandateofLeadershipProject2025 Tap on the chapter and it takes you there👇🏼 drive.google.com/viewerng/vie...
in NYT-speak, the vibes are perplexing!
How has the @nytimes.com continued to fail us in this way?
Yes, it'll be a good day when the media stops trying to normalise Trump by "explaining" his idiocy
Thank you for the gift article. Definitely a very interesting read!
Hey @anneapplebaum.bsky.social. The story describes Easterly’s resilient and optimistic vision for the country thru her time as a cadet, the fall of Kabul— where she fought — and today. It contrasts with Loomer’s dark, conspiratorial view. Always enjoyed your work. This feels like a cheap shot.
The headline and the framing pose them as somehow equal, which I find offensive
Disagree on the framing. 80 percent of the piece is about Easterly, her vision and resilience. The story clearly calls out Loomer for what she is: Isalamophobe, conspiracist, cynic. Sorry you’re offended.
FWIW. I agree with Anne. Yes, you weight the reportage towards Easterly’s case, but you leave the impression that Loomer’s worldview has some merit. It is in fact completely untethered in history, reality or the common good. Loomer is a complete nihilist. Giving her any credence is to aid and abet.
She is right that the headline is bad and you should own that
You were correct
Whether it’s a cybersecurity expert saying her husband has experienced PTSD since returning from Afghanistan, or a self described “pro-white nationalist Islamophobe” calling for the wholesale slaughter of all Muslims, both sides have made some troubling comments about the Middle East.
Cheap shot ? The NYT disgraces itself every day. Self reflection is in order.
Sycophant > Patriot
I’m baffled at the American naiveté about this sort of thing. Most other nations got an inkling as GW Bush took Orwellian measures in the name of the War on Terror, circumventing the UN to invade Iraq being a big red flag. The GOP’s 'You’re either with us or against us' led to Easterly’s demise now.
I remember freedom fries The blame lies w the same groups of people and in many cases- the very same people
This is pathetic. America's highest-level HR decisions are being made by a botoxed-brain piece of garbage with no accountability. Congratulations.
What boggles the mind is that one of those visions is mainsteam.
Trump has been normalized for far too long. No one stops him. If we were divided by physical boundaries like we were during the Civil War, it would be much easier to break away from this monster. Unfortunately, rational people and MAGAs are peppered amongst each other. I don’t know how this ends. 😢
One thing we can all agree on is Trump is not a patriot and he place no thing above himself. So where does that leave us?
When you write a piece about a shovel faced termagant forcing out a public servant and the public servant "did not respond to requests for comment for this article" best not to bother. We know Loomer is a sack of shit. Hard hitting Journalism from NYT as always. Clickbait with extra steps.
The Old Gray Lady needs a GPS to find her way home.
Their passion for good governance was somehow more spirited when improper email servers and consensual blowjobs were at stake. The NYT enigma.
I am unable to think of any other administration so replete with leaders in need of mental health treatment. We are captive to their illnesses.
I didn’t get the same two sides you apparently did.
Loomer is fighting the elite establishment. That’s rich.
The NYT is not a reliable news source any longer.
Agree with Anne 100%. Trump and his sycophants are doing all in their power to destroy our institutions of government and all that the United States has come to stand for for more than two crnturies.
... by messing with our perception through constantly shifting our focus, where golf balls are compared to the moon.
It is time that MSNBC stops featuring any NYTimes reporter no matter how good they are. They are helping to legitimize a company that is destroying America.
Once again, I can't take posters seriously when they don't call out their fellow journalists. These stories don't write themselves. The reporter is Greg Jaffe.
I am at a loss. Skilled propagandists, articulate people with paranoid personalities [I call them functioning paranoids], extremely wealthy but sociopathic individuals keep finding ways to turn integrity, be it journalistic and professional, against itself. Jan Easterly and Greg Jaffe are both...
..duty bound by integrity to adhere to generally understood but, difficult to codify into law, rules of integrity. Loomer, her patron Trump, Hegseth, and many current Trump appointees are not. For the paranoid and/or sociopathic, integrity is for fools. Loyalty trumps morality. Pun intended.
There are times when it's hard to tell @nytpitchbot.bsky.social apart from @nytimes.com This is one of them.
This is a bit glass houses given you write for The Atlantic
Why haven't you, and other progressive pundits who claim such solemn anger, organized a boycott against the Vichy Media, for legitmating this shit-show, instead of constantly re-tweeting their garbage just to self-righteously dunk on it? Our $$ is the only indisputable power we have left.
cc @nytpitchbot.bsky.social
It was apparent for years that our media was framing the insane as sane. A few people spent years appealing to the left to focus on bringing public awareness to what MSM was doing, but most were dismissive of the idea of protesting any media HQ. Bad call.
When people join the military, they take an oath to protect against enemies foreign and domestic. WHERE are the military leaders?
“When outrage is weaponized and truth discarded, it tears at the fabric of unity and undermines the very ethos that draws brave young men and women to serve and sacrifice,” she warned”
Both sidesing overt fascism is quintessential New York Times reporting. #BrokenTimes
NYT motto now "We report, you decide." or is Fox still using it?
If this is not accidental, then the Times is either (a) the dumbest group of reporters and editors ever or (b) consciously avoiding the truth about Trump's "vision" of America. I'm certain it's (b) which makes them complicit and knowingly so.
Some enterprising reporter somewhere should ask the Times publisher which vision of America they believe in.
the one without trans individuals or homeless.
When someone as immensely qualified and competent as Jen Easterly is not hired because of a ranting “influencer”, our country is in serious danger.
This anti "both sides" reaction consistently fails to reckon with the content being reacted against. Anyone who read that article and found the two dueling perspectives somehow morally or intellectually equivalent, is illiterate.
