Basically, anyone who actually takes the time to read about the foundations of what goes into an AI understands, it’s already everywhere, it’s not going away, but what guys like Musk are doing with it is irresponsible, stupid, and overall a waste of time, resources and potential.

Because we never fucking get rid of anything bad. We just exploit it - or use it to exploit others. If you think unemployment is bad now, give it a minute.

That’s literally my point. The perception of AI being a fad is predicated directly on people jumping to things like ChatGPT and in that regard I agree, it is. I also feel that that is what most people believe because that’s what rich people want it to be, to mine data, to make more money….

… but people forget that ChatGPT is an AI in the same way that most things that run on machine learning are, but ultimately one is useful and one is a fad, yea. That doesn’t mean the technology as a whole is a fad, or should go away, just how we use it and think of it needs to shift

I'm sure there's time and place for that. People in this thread are clearly talking about chatgpt kind and you're here going "actually 🤓☝🏾". Nobody's gonna listen, they're gonna fight you. Now what does that solve.

This whole thread is a bunch of people fellatiating each other and validating an idea predicated on gross misunderstanding of a topic. When information is incorrect you should say so. How people react to that is usually more about them than the information itself.

It’s really not my problem that two or three people are talking out of their asses on a topic. They’re opinion based in ignorance shouldn’t be treated equally to people who are more educated on a topic.It’s not about them. They’re confident morons. Its about presenting better info for others.

the unearned confidence in your superior knowledge. The tendency to bullshit when you don't know stuff. You like AI all right. Machine learning is a thing. very useful. LLMs are a toy. They absolutely are not AI and they will never produce anything clever.
