How do you know they're not bad people?
How do you know they're not bad people?
You ask a valid question. But what's the difference between a good person and a bad person?
Their intrinsic values and how they choose to act upon them.
I would agree with that. However, it is my experience that people can fail in living up to their own values and standards. It doesn't make them bad people. It makes them human. IMHO, there are very few people who are truly "good".
Absolutely! It's not binary. Nobody's perfect. But what I am getting at is behaviours like anti-LGBTQ, anti-abortion, clerical abuse (and cover-up), denial of medical treatment, suicide bombings, genital mutilation (male and female), slavery, the list goes on and on
Nobody would commit these acts if it weren't for religion. And since I don't presume all people of faith are bad people, religion must be why good people are doing bad things.
