it's also such shit logic oh, you're saying the left is a sizable enough voting block that they can affect the election? so you should court them next time, right? FOR SOME REASON, NO.

The centrists'/conservatives' votes must be earned, the leftists are owed nothing and better show up like clockwork. 🙄
Unless you’re happy with the disaster that nonvoters have enabled 🤷♂️
I hate them so much
There are mfs on here who will unironically say “the left is big and influential enough to hurt Democrats, but not enough to help them.”
Fuck us for believing in liberation i guess.
They don’t believe in anything, and they don’t want us to believe in anything either.
She was already fighting an uphill battle being a woman. She could have ran a perfect campaign and she would have still struggled to court voters in America.
She dropped out in 2020 dem primary bc she was doing so bad. One of the reasons she was picked (probably a big reason she was picked) as bidens vp was because she was a women. Yeah misogyny is a problem. A bigger problem is running an already failed (2016) centrist practically RW campaign.
Not just a woman, a black woman calling out his constant glorification of white supremacist segregationists during a primary where he blamed black parents for racial inequality post-slavery. He needed her to shut up about that and she did.
Dropped out in exchange for the VP spot. Buttgeig dropped out for dept. of transportation. Struggling to remember who else of the candidates got an admin spot, in exchange for getting behind biden...
I think the real & only problem is that 90M people decided not to vote therefore turning their back on Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants and all minorities currently under attack. To me it was sad to realize people were so selfish they chose a useless stance over people suffering :/
I agree. That's precisely why the campaign disappointed us so much. I don't imagine any voter would be swayed by "a moderate that may or may not push right wing policy" when they have "right wing candidate that absolutely will" right in front of them. But for some reason that was the angle anyway.
People act like things would be sooo different if the transphobic cop that wants to kill brown people was elected instead of the transphobic TV show host that wants to kill brown people.
"buT sHE wAs rIGht aBOut EVerYtHinG"
liberals keep blaming us but when we ask them to do anything they go "but you are such a small group" so like, which is it? do we have a ton of impact or are we a negligible minority?
I think in the end it comes down to voting for others, especially the vulnerable.I’m a progressive & chose Sanders in the2020 primaries. But how am I going to look at myself in the mirror if I didn’t vote for her enabling more pain for Palestinians, abandonment of Ukrainians, immigrants &all minorities?
Oh good, again we are scapegoated...the only reason they pretend to us at all. Dems want what's happening to the US. I can say this confidently because they put up no resistance as a party. What's Schumer doing, trying now to stain his underpants?
the only people dumber than the ones arguing "the left cost Harris the election" are the ones arguing "she lost for being too left-wing/progressive" like. what fucking planet were you observing the campaign from. (great choice of pic to illustrate this!)
i dont shame people for voting for harris. they were raised on the side that belie the rich people have a right to wage holy wars, and if we dont like it, our best option is to look sad while we enable it. But we werent. I just shame the ones who try to shame us
Wait do you really not understand that voters decide elections? 😭😭
I'm going to pretend for a moment you're not illiterate: putting a pin in how gerrymandering, disenfranchisement, and voter suppression decides elections more than any individual, there's a huge difference between "the left cost Harris the election" and "Harris failed to earn votes from the left"
So you understand that voters decide elections? Or are you saying gerrymandering, disenfranchisement and voter suppression wasn’t there in 2020? I love that you started w/ insults immediately, it’s a special kind of fragility 🥹🫶
lmao, you came at me insulting my ability to comprehend politics, fuck off
In other words, you’re evading my comment & attempting to reply w/o answering 🤷♂️ Never insulted you, but if you put the screenshot of my insults I’ll gladly apologize 🙌
you're an illiterate dipshit
Where is the insult? Please consult the link below - thank you 🥹🫶 www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/i... PS: I find it really adorable that the guy actually throwing around heavy insulting language is now trying to play the victim over a question 🤭
El creepo can’t help himself!
And yet given the fascist alternative of Trump we're currently stuck with, she was still the obvious choice at the election. The American people deserve better candidates, but failing that, the left should have held its nose and voted for her.
I'm saying a hard no. 90 million people not voting cost Harris the election. When the time came, ultimately they had a choice, either stand against the orange nazi or don't. They chose not to and now every issue they use to justify that choice is being made vastly worse by the day.
Simply facts - it was so sad to see how many selfish people chose making a useless statement rather than protecting vulnerable folks :/
The only evidence of one slight effect was Gaza on (I think it) was Missouri?? Dems played themselves
Michigan, too. Dearborn is one of the main areas that won Michigan for Biden.
Nice one
As they generally do
At the end of the day, 90M people decided not to vote therefore turning their back on Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants and all minorities currently under attack. To me it was sad to realize people were so selfish they chose a useless stance over people suffering :/
Way more sympathetic to that argument...
Honestly, if the Democrats were serious about winning the last election, they would have not ran her as a candidate. Walz was a REALLY GOOD PICK, America LOVES Walz. Stick some middle of the road boring candidate with him and he will FUCKING CARRY. Also take the reigns off him, let him go nuts.
At the end of the day 90M people decided not to vote therefore turning their back on Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants and all minorities currently under attack. To me it was sad to realize people were so selfish they chose a useless stance over people suffering :/
They wouldn't have let Biden stumble onto the stage until like 100 days before the election. The whole election was a comedy of errors that gets worse and worse as more info about the campaign comes out.
For sure, they should have taken one look at Biden and said "no, you're not running again, you're far too old and not mentally agile enough at this time." So yeah they HAD options, they just aren't serious.
The fact that everyone who had a hand in covering up his condition was not politically blacklisted on the spot does not give me much confidence for the future of this party.
Not alone in that unfortunately
If they were serious about winning, they would've let someone else run from the get-go instead of bloody Biden. Him dropping out so late did not help the Dems AT ALL. It was such an idiotic move, coupled with the awful campaigning (why drop the 'Republicans are weird' thing?!) screwed them.
Yeah, everything else aside, everyone seems to forget Biden only gave them like literally two months to campaign.
"Harris screwed Harris, and she can look in the mirror and say that. I feel no sympathy for Harris"
Bullshit! This wasn't the left's first rodeo with Trump. He fucking told them all the horrible shit he was planning on doing, but because Harris didn't kiss their asses, they stayed home. Now their family & friends are being deported, bombs are being dropped on Iran. Nice going!
I just talked with a New York union man who backs Trump because the Establishment Democrats became corporate shills. Trump is 500000 times worse but his point is valid. We MUST overturn Citizens “United”
It is impossible for Enlightened Centrists to do anything wrong, thanks to their convenient position of never taking responsibility for any negative outcome ever
"But if she had more time to campaign" If she had she probably would've lost even harder. People were excited by being rid of Biden. People were excited by Walz being chosen over the other presented options. People were excited by Walz going on the attack. After that it was all downhill.
She didn't just lose the Left by courting far-right voters with far-right policies. She lost a chunk of the Liberals. That along with the Democrats dismissing voter suppression by the GOP as a local issue for decades.
Getting all the third party votes wouldn't make up a 14M voter gap b/t 2020 biden and 2024 harris.
She was also already pretty hated as VP.
Those who did not vote for her cost Kamala the election Contrary to most pontificating, it's always the economy that determines the swing and stay-at-home vote The economy was not good for bottom 50% who are not in stock market and faced real inflation (on essentials, not luxuries) of 9%
The working class are worse off than 5 years ago and wrongly blamed Biden/Harris for Covid's effect on economy while also wrongly crediting Trump for the pre-Covid economy
It's wild how the left is big enough to sway the election but not big enough to appeal to.
acab
Being milquetoast cost her the election. She was not going to win over overt racists, misogynists or Republicans. They were already radicalized. She needed to focus on getting butts in seats. She needed to get new people to vote and you do that by standing out. Not by courting her enemies.
Audacity would have took her a long way. Making the news would have took her a long way. She lost on trying to be the restaurant nobody wanted, but nobody quite hated.
When asked if she would do anything different than the president polling at about 36% aproval. She said "no"
THIS! Biden's numbers were underwater and not only did she take on his advisors but failed to do anything to differentiate herself from him. You can spot the exact moment all enthusiasm for her dried up, and it was the moment she opened her mouth and said, "Nothing will change."
Maybe she never thought people were willing to enable trump and more pain on Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants and all minorities…to make a statement. I personally was def surprised to see so many selfish voters who were ok effectively voting for trump 🤷♂️
The left didn't cost us the election. Democrats trying to appeal to voters who were already going to vote republican anyway did.
Like, genuinely, wtf was gained by telling Walz to stop calling Vance weird, and then agree with him about immigration during the debates? They were literally claiming Haitians were eating people's pets, and they had him say "I'm sure your concerns are well-founded."
In the end it always comes down to voting and 90M people decided not to vote therefore turning their back on Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants and all minorities currently under attack. To me it was sad to realize people were so selfish they chose a useless stance over people suffering :/
More than anything, not having a primary cost Harris. The primary is when the party has to court the left more, we find out which ideas/candidates have enough momentum to be on the platform, then discussion opens up to the broader population in the general. Biden should have stepped back sooner.
Without a primary, the platform wasn't battle tested, and the left had no leverage over the campaign. I dislike HRC for many reasons, but her 2016 general campaign was stronger and further to the left than it would have been if she hadn't spent a season sparring with Bernie on the campaign trail.
Liberals cost Kamala the election.
Liberal media immediately started blaming the Hispanic community of being inherently conservative and sexist... meanwhile Mexico's president is a socialist jewish woman with approvals in the 80s.
Florida here. A shit ton of the Hispanic community here IS conservative and quickly getting worse, esp in the south. Many are deep in conspiracy crap pushed by republicans and the Spanish media. They are a HUGE reason Florida is no longer a swing state! That said, my Mexican neighbors…
Most of "The Hispanic community" (or at least a plurality) in Florida are the children and grandchildren of fucking white gusanos who had their slave plantations liberated by Che and Castro. Part of the problem is lumping us all into one pile irrespective of our cultural differences.
Did I do that? No. Read again.
here in central Florida came out spectacularly for the last protest, some at great risk. It was amazing!
It’s true of a massive majority of Latinos, especially in the US. But it wasn’t only their fault, it was mainly non voters who sadly chose making a useless statement over Palestinians, Ukrainians, immigrants & all minorities currently under attack :/
The only time they have won big in my lifetime was Obama and that was because the average person thought he might be left wing. They didn't even have to govern left wing, they just had to imply that their intention was to be left wing.
Biden won massively as well.
No he didn't his down ballot performance was crap. Obama had a super majority.
It seemed pretty convincing and overwhelming…at least according to the numbers 🤷♂️
48 Dems 50 counting independents in the Senate is not what I would call good numbers.
I was talking about the presidential election 🤷♂️
I think down ballot effect is a pretty important metric in a presidential election 🤷
Sure is, I was talking about the presidential election though 🤷♂️
I never understood why, out of all the sorts of "competitions" in the world, that politics is the only one where it's the fault of the "audience" if the team loses, and not the "player(s)".
B/c politics is not a sport & the audience in sports doesn’t decide the winner by voting for them. I’m pretty sure you knew this though 🤷♂️
