Genuinely cannot wait for the entire malignant AI industry to crash out, gonna be celebrating. 🦀🦀🦀🎉 For the damage it's done, for the people whose livelihoods it's decimated, for every prick who's got off on telling creative people they're obsolete, glad the plagiarism engines will crash and burn.

Def glad it is crashing out, especially since the pressure caused me to start actually following creative presuits that I had been nervous to try (mostly sketching and DMing) so I might have a leg up soon. Am still worried about what they’ll try to force on us next.

I hope it crashes completely. AI will be one of the catalysts that kill off our planet. Between the algorithms directing / flooding the news and platforms with misinformation with far-right / right leaning propaganda, to the sheer amount of material and power it demands monthly, increasing. Ban it

It sure seems like the recent mass pushes to try get everyone to use it is because we’re reaching the inevitable point of unsustainability and they’re desperately trying to squeeze the last few dollars out it all

I've been feeling like AI has become the new "God told me". Just an excuse to do heinous things while vaguely alluding to some mysterious higher power

Its going to be really fucking funny once all these smug low talent losers have to actually find jobs... And no one will hire them because of their proximity to AI. Imagine how contemptuous people who been decimated by AI will be once the tables are turned. I have zero sympathy once that occurs.

I'm fascinated at the pace of technology these days. I swear the Dot Com bubble took several years to finally burst. It feels now, like at the start of the year, we get The Next Big Thing no one wants, and by the end of the year, it's in the bin.

I've never prayed so hard for something to die so hard in my life. These past 8 years it have been SO unfathomably hostile to creators: the censorship sweeps, shops killing off small artists, the AI pushes combined with stealing, the constant platform migration & mental suffering is never-ending.

Also the HBM glut this will leave may help slow power/TDP and card width bloat in GPUs... not to mention the noise savings from the reductions in heat.

I'm seeing a lot of people trying to be buzzkills about it, pointing out that this bubble bursting is going to financially ruin so many people and tank the economy and I'm just like... do I come across as someone who has a stock portfolio to worry about or something over here?

Even if you did, the sooner the bubble pops the less the damage will be. Over the last decade, Big Tech has grown from ~10-15% of the US stock market to ~35%. (Note: Big Tech won't go to zero so the risk isn't quite this big) The longer this goes on, the worse it gets.

A more realistic range for a right-now crash would be on the order of 5-10%. This would suck a lot, but not even push pension funds underwater. The problem is that this can rot and fester to infinity. It'd take a lot to get there, "everyone's pension is now zero" is a theoretical possibility.

In addition to everything else, AI has sucked the life out of every other possible startup because techbros convinced investors that it's the future and they were too tempted by the idea of no longer needing to hire actual humans
