Since we’re allowed to post reccs… Mushroom Musume is a twisted, sweet, eerie, yet cute raising sim/visual novel/roguelike where you Mushroom girls and follow them into adulthood. The writing is phenomenal and changes so much with every playthrough, revealing more of the world and story each time.

its a good slow burn sort of game, so no hurry really like I said myself, I've been going about it slowly, created multiple characters, replayed the opening acts a bit. if I recall correctly you don't even get your spellbook till chapter 3
Quick extra note, your portrait via regular character creation (there is fast too) is decided by your profession... Male academic looks like such a massive nerd (positive) that I ended up making that one my main character just because of that.
If you are doing it delightfully or hesitantly its up to you; Very janky but very well worth your time, I havent even gotten very far yet cuz I keep making new characters and replaying early chapters to test out stuff. Has a very fun character creation process in which (cont)
you play a narrated (and very well narrated, would legit pay to have the narrator do audibooks) choose your own story. Also, you can play an anxious bi/pansexual disaster necromancer so me but less dragon.

Also, if you would prefer a more traditional survival horror, finishing withering rooms once unlocks a fixed seed and fixed camera angles mode (though its still from the 2.5 D perspective so its not perfect)
