I was just thinking about that. Does anyone have a page listing the very few actual lawsuits and their status? Because obviously the media did not follow up ever on those things, just said there was a giant tsunami that surely was going to mean no one treated trans kids... and then that was it.

I've described the "Gender Critical" movement before as something akin to an evangelical death cult awaiting the end of the world, but instead of their own rapture, they're awaiting ours; the glorious day when trans people will simply cease to be and they will finally be free of us.
The comparison to evangelicals is especially apt because those eventually decided "the Rapture" will not happen by waiting for the apocalypse, it will happen once they *caused* the apocalypse. Transphobes are radicalising in much the same way, hardcore accelerationism as both the means and end.
And every dead line that passes they just love the date that bit further into the future. It suddenly becomes next year is the year trans ends then the next then the next.
As someone who was raised Catholic and taught the end times will come "like a thief in the night", these beliefs completely baffled me. I'm not that religious anymore, but it just sounds wildly heretical to me for evangelicals to think they can just cause the Rapture to happen.
It's because, as always, they think being queer is a "choice," and if they remove the "choice" of being trans, then people will move on to something else. Like discontinuing a hair dye color.
You can't grasp anti-trans hate unless you understand this, they wholeheartedly believe there will be some inflection point where trans people just stop existing. And every day trans people continue unabated, that's further proof the trans conspiracy is even stronger and goes deeper than before.

I've also seen that in anti-gay rhetoric, but it seems worse with trans people--possibly because more trans people are starting to live more open lives.
You can see this in how much angrier they got after the fraudulent Cass Report was rammed through, or how the Scottish supreme court ruled in their favour, and they were more miserable and incised than ever before, because these were meant to be it; the point where transgender stops existing.
It's a cult that fantasizes about a promised world without trans people, where every single friend and loved one they drove away with their obsessive hatred will come grovelling back with apologies and beg forgiveness for their betrayals, and ever day we keep going we are denying them that fantasy.
There can't be a real Hell as bad as the one transphobes have turned their lives into.

Instead of finding that inspirational and motivating to break down barriers in their own lives and live closer to the person they want to be, they instead try to force the world to bend back to the rules so that they dont have to feel envy or doubt.
Im not saying all transphobes are secretly trans, but I do believe that they see in trans people that what they settled for might not be all there is and thats a threatening and scary concept if they dont have the courage to recognize and act on it.
They could be as happy as trans people if they lived openly and started to break some rules themselves, but they fear it and how that realization could change the familiar contours of their lives

I think one thing that is different about this is that in other scenarios, there is something the bigots want to capture from the people they've othered. They want to steal indigenous lands, exploit the labor of Black and Latine people, etc. But they don't want anything actionable from trans people.

Trans people don't make up that small a part of the population compared to other racial, ethnic, or religious minorities in the US. There are 4 times as many trans people in the US as Armenian-Americans, for example. (To pick a random ethnic minority.)
There are about as many trans Americans as Cuban Americans, and Cuban Americans are a sought after voting bloc. (Versus the "Dems shouldn't try to win trans votes" vibe from centrist Democrats these days.)
They want reproductive capacity. They want something from us.

But trans people only make up around 1% of the population, with a lot of that concentrated in places like NYC, LA, SF, etc… The average person in a flyover state might not interact with any trans people and thus the scare tactics aren’t so easily dispelled
Actually I think the difference between now and when trans people were beneath the notice of TERFs is precisely that trans people are no longer ghettoized to tiny demimondes in the largest cities. You are seeing trans kids in Ohio and Alabama who expect to live and thrive. And that scares them.

Really why X-Men works as a trans allegory so well since non-mutants can have mutant kids and the only way to stop mutants from existing is to wipe out humans. Which the mutantphobes (whatever their group name is in that decade) would generally balk at doing since they're "saving" humanity
Trans people have existed for all of the near 46 years I have lived on this planet and my life has been just fine. in fact, my BluSky experience is reacher for the cadre of trans women I follow and who follow me. I have learned so much from them and they are better than a lot of "Chritians" I know
Also, another person being trans has absolutely zero effect on how I, or anyone else, lives their lives. It's really not that difficult.

That's 100% it. They assumed after Cass that trans people would just up and say, "well, it's a fair cop. You got us. We were only doing this for a laugh" and go away. But you and I both know that *isn't* what being trans is.
if they are cis, it's hard for them to understand. So they look what what extreme thing would cause them to transition. They can only see being trans through a mirror of "what would make me change my gender."
They see being trans as a means to an end. You 'become' trans to... do something. assault people, steal sports awards, etc. Or you've been coerced to be trans. The notion that people can be trans to... just be themselves is alien to them.

Unlike evangelicals who can rest in the confidence that they'll be saved in the end times or after life if they don't live to see it, the Gender Criticals don't have anything to ease their 'burden.' They have to keep fighting until we're gone, while simultaneously maintaining plausible deniability.
These means one of two things: they're either going to give up because attacking a minority that won't just go away gets so tedious and consumes so many of their lives that they can't bear to continue wasting them like that, or let the mask fully slip and show the public exactly what they're about.
Graham is, I think, falling into the latter. Arrested for inciting violence. Not sure which posts specifically got him arrested, but he's essentially reached the point where nothing else is working and he's ready to openly call for violence.
