There seems to be an assumption in many of the replies that eugenics and slash and burn destruction of medical infrastructure are exactly and obviously and only and always the same - and while there are areas of overlap that is not the case.

Real historical take: It’s seemingly impossible for a white man to say, “Thanks for helping me see this other perspective in response to my statement. I will think about it.”

The forms of fascism are not established enough to make strong claims about what is inside and outside it. This leaves an opening for people to suggest that idiotic ideas about public health are perfectly in keeping with fascism. The role of legitimate experts is decreased. Etc.

Fascism is something you do. It doesn’t require an authority figure to judge and label it as such. Narrow definitions only serve to blind people or comfort those who wish to stay blind

Come on Philip. You are skirting the issue. We are not talking about every case. We are talking about this one and its direct parallel to many, many fascist regimes. And we are talking about your very ableist and harmful claim that this is happening because of mental illness.

okay but fascism is also famously anti-science and anti-intellectual and the Nazis famously *did* destroy medical infrastructure, and people have been telling you that in addition to talking about the eugenics of it all.

What is this, some way still trying to be right? Pathetic. They are ALWAYS a part of fascist regime, because fascism is desperate to get society to question basic reality.

The overlap of American fascist movements, eugenics movements, and woo-woo health pseudoscience is notorious. From the Kellogg's Race Betterment Foundation and conferences, to eugenic leaders' own wars against the weak and policies based on "sentimentality" or empathy that weaken "civilization."

The neo-Nazis and Birchers of the late 1950s and 1960s went all in on crazy anti-fluoridation conspiracies in the same vein... all generally matched with rehashed eugenic opposition to social services and public aid. The ideology of "Granola Nazis" has been going strong for over a century here.

It was not and is still not about the "slash and burn destruction of medical infrastructure," but the takeover of institutions that have legitimacy to speak their "truth." For the fascists, it's to spread the fascist "truth." For woo-woo pseudoscience, it's their "woo-woo," etc.

just weird that you'd block disability activists who have had decades of experience with this, instead of listening to their critiques, which are actually quite illuminating.

all fascist regimes deem certain types of people as disposable the policy purpose of designating anyone thusly is to facilitate their elimination this isn't complicated. terrible and disgusting, but not complicated.
