Tyson's meme is patently silly. For an example; I believe it's wrong that the rich have more than they can spend while children starve. How is that (or its negation) "objective truth"? Please explain how either could be based on "objective truth".

It is an objective fact that humans are generally protective of children. It is an objective fact that starving does harm to children. It is an objective fact that there are people so rich, they could easily help a lot of them without any noticeable impact on their own wellbeing....

You are not making a point against objective facts. You are asking why morality matters at all. Well, it's also an objective fact that we evolved to care about these matters. While what we consider moral in detail is subjective, the fact that we HAVE morality and can base decisions on facts is not.

That belief is based on a moral judgement. Human morals arise from our heritage and experience as social, tribal creatures. From this arises an understanding, inter alia, that gross inequality leads to social division within the group. So, your belief is founded on objective truth.

Some animals exhibit social cohesion but many don't Also, humans band together in groups for the purpose of killing one another Is war "social cohesion"? How does war "enhance" the "survivability" of those you kill? Are those other "tribes" human? Do you call killing those "tribes" "moral"?

Everyone who talks about "truth" fails to point out that it was based on a person's personal perspective, not just (if at all) facts, & American empathy can no longer be assumed.
