I am increasingly finding a divide in my life between the literate and the non-literate. I enjoy company with the literate, even if we disagree on things. I find time with the non-literate to be tiresome, even if we agree on things.

What is depressing me nowadays is that the anti-literate culture that prevails in wider society is now becoming an element of the culture of educational institutions, which are supposed to by fortresses of literacy.
