I'm stuck taking ADHD meds that don't work while having to jump through so many fuuuuuuuucking hoops. I'm also jumping through hoops to get knee injections approved. My post-meno hormones are no longer covered. Had to switch to something else. Fuuuuuuuuck insurance companies. šŸ–•šŸ¤¬šŸ–•

Check if the one you need is on good Rx. A lot of times it's cheaper than insurance because yay America.

My sons ins copay went up a thousand dollars for no reason over last month. Manufacturer just decided to raise prices and there's no generic. It has been deemed medically necessary. Fuck our health care system.

My doctor just did this for my cholesterol meds. I have a statin intolerance, and there is exactly ONE I can take. They don't want to pay, need to fail 3.. ...here's proof I've failed 5. Pay my damn drug.

I spent a year trying meds my doctor told me probably wouldnt work so we could get auth for a specific med. Its not some wild or crazy medication. Its widely used for different issues, but need to jump through hoops of co-pays and other meds to even get a shot at it a year later.

insurance companies should not be controlling what is prescribed to a patient. It should be the sole purview of the attending doctor. In general, insurance should be outlawed. But, the specific case of them overriding doctors is particularly heinous.

At least you got diagnosed and meds? I was misdiagnosed in my 20s, now almost 50 and my pcp wants psych to see me and there's at least a 2 yr wait in my area. 1/2

That being said, and speaking from professional experience, your drs office should be able to submit a PA and easily document your previous med failures to get it approved. You shouldn't have to get involved. I'm sorry you were put in the middle of your doc and the insurance. 2/2

We jumped ADHD meds so many times trying to find the right meds and dosage for my kid. I'm incredibly thankful our insurance never put us through that hell and I'm sorry to hear yours is. Good luck. ADHD can be a real motherfucker without proper medication.
