Do people actually say this? I am more progressive than most folks, and maybe it is because I live in a conservative state, but I can't imagine telling my centrist friends that they are basically Republicans.

I suppose online discourse can lead to those outcomes, but I just can't imagine having those talking point conversations in real life with neighbors or people in the community. I do believe that pundits like Yglesias get these replies, but I don't think bluesky factors into the general electorate.
