Spanking a child twice in her life is certainly not “hitting.” The issue with the children today is that parents don’t know how to say no and mean it. Beating a kid or anyone is not acceptable. Spanking twice in a life time is not beating. She’ll be 50 in a few months.
If someone spanked you, would you say they hit you? I think you would. If so, then how is spanking a child different? It is okay to have not been a perfect parent. Nobody is. I don’t know why you’d want to promote spanking for others, though, just because you did it twice.

Please explain the thought process that allows you to believe that "spanking" is not an act in which you hit your child, often repeatedly, usually on the buttocks.
As parents we tell our kids to use their words and not hit, amazingly I have raised my kids without hitting them, they understand the meaning of the word no and are respectful. I honestly cannot imagine spanking my kids, it seems like a real failure of a parenting if you have to resort to hitting.

Spanking is hitting. It's literally hitting someone. You only try to differentiate so you feel better about doing it. My boomer parents never hit me and I still managed to behave, respect them, etc. If you can't get your kids to behave without beating them that's an issue with your parenting.
My parents both grew up getting the shit slapped out of them by WW2 vet fathers, swore to never do the same, and never once spanked me or my brother. I'm a robotics engineer and have a really amazing friendship with them both as an adult. I'll never understand why any adult would want to spank.
