I liked The Story and The Engine for what it tried to do, even if the execution was a bit wibbly-wobbly (pun intended) and you can sorta see it's a play reworked as a DW episode. But 73 Yards, I dunno, it just rubbed wrong the whole way through. I love me a complex and convoluted story, but-

-that one doesn't seem to me like it amounted to anything, since the end of the episode rewrites the beginning so it's all erased, and no one remembers it, and Mad Jack is still free to cause a nuclear war. It left me bad confused, not good confused.

I can get some kind of second-order resolution out of the existence of the fairy circle, with its "RIP Mad Jack", somehow holding that bad future safely out of the world. Holding it in the past? Yes, I'm now just making things up that aren't in the show.
