Before a job interview, my wife had to practice saying the name of the place over and over. I think my Massachusetts upbringing had permanently bent my pronunciation brain.

ahaha - yeah, some starting points are different from others, by a lot. 🙃 Personally, I'm linguistically flexible, but I have a mixed record with public speaking. And yet, I refuse to believe they couldn't find a single professional announcer in one of the wealthiest cities in the world...

Nah. That's just lazy host-finding. I can see if they found someone whose presence would honor the moment, but that person was a dud announcer but beloved. But just bad? You had ONE job....
