Labour cannot ban conversion therapy without acknowledging there’s something fundamental the conversion therapy is attempting to change. The statements against conversion therapy say this is gender identity. That contradiction only isn’t an issue if you’re not intending to ban conversion therapy.
For Tories it was ok. They could say gender identity is a “contested belief” as they weren’t going to ban conversion therapy efforts to change it. Labour has to go one way or other. They either stick with fringe anti LGBTQ+ ideas about gender identity or ban conversion therapy. They can’t do both.
