Lol, actually so was I. I said I circled all the books I wanted, never said I got them all. 😂 Although my daughter is not a quota kid...within reason. We often disagree what is "within reason" though lol #kidlitchat
And the there was a long wait for the books to arrive at school. By that time, I sometimes forgot what I'd ordered. #kidlitchat
Same.
I need to clarify: I was talking about ordering books via--I think it was the Weekly Reader flyer?--not a book fair like nowadays. The books were cheap paperback editions and you could buy a BUSHEL for $5. Hence, no quota. But also, no scented erasers, which I would've totally loved. :-) #kidlitchat
I’ve heard of that one! As a teacher in the 90/00s, I ordered student books from different companies besides Scholastic. We had book fairs with cheaper books too.
My very first commission as a #kidlit illustrator was for a book club edition of Dr. Doolittle. The controversy over that book was just beginning to simmer, but all I could think about was how proud I would be to be stacked on someone's desk on delivery day.
