Someone needs to post what I need to do to my phone when I cross the border back into the USA. Do I have to delete Bluesky? Haven’t been on FB in years so no worries there. But I am seriously concerned that border agents will look into my social media presence.
iOS will allow you to back your phone up then turn off Find My iPhone and finally “Erase All Content and Settings”. Someone perhaps can advise on Android

Don't bring your phone. Get a burner phone and a digital camera for vacation photos. Leave everything else at home. It's apparently legal for them to take your phone and extract data, so give them an empty one.
I'm curious. If vacation traveling from the US to Canada and back. Is it safer to fly or drive when dealing with border officials.
I don't know, honestly. If you're a US citizen, bring a burner phone, leave everything else at home. If you're a green card holder, that's different. Not sure which one is safer to pass thru atm.
In general, green card holders are actually being warned *not* to leave the US because there is no guarantee at present they'll be let back in (actual immigration attorneys are warning) Folks entering from outside US are being warned to use burner phones in the US (Canada has given this advice)
Whatever they want to. Remember, they are grabbing people off the streets, without a chance to declare their innocence, what's to stop them from disappearing American citizens?
